To qualify for home health care, you must meet the following conditions:

– Care must be ordered by a doctor who certifies that you need one or more of the following:

  • Intermittent skilled nursing care
  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy

– The home health agency must be Medicare-certified

– You must be homebound, meaning it is difficult for you to leave your home and you require assistance to do so.

For home health care, Medicare covers the full cost of approved services.

Hospice care is generally covered fully, but there may be a copayment for some medications and respite care.

In Conclusion

It’s always a good idea to check with Medicare or your healthcare provider for specific details related to your situation.

Assuming that Medicare will take care of all your needs at home is a huge mistake financially. Be sure and ask questions about what is actually covered when you do your annual Medicare sign up.
